Come From Away the musical is set to the music and lyrics produced by Irene Sankoff and David Hein. It is based on a true story of the events that transpired in the week following the September 11 attacks. Operation Yellow Ribbon saw 38 planes land unexpectedly in a small town in Newfoundland and Labrador. The musical follows the natives and the 7,000 stranded travelers they housed and fed. Come From Away was nominated for numerous awards at the 71st Tony Awards, ultimately winning Best Direction of a Musical.
